My art is a natural expression of my thinking and the marks I make on a canvas are an extension of my hand. When I paint, I create only what I want, focusing on themes such as time, mental capacity, and mortality. While I used to create artwork that would try to be as close to lifelike as possible but with each new work of art like this that I created, I did not feel such work expressed my personal creativity and voice. I have since pushed myself into creating artwork that I hope is easily recognizable as a "Tommy Torres work of art". I aim to build an identity through my artwork much like the best artists from the past and present have done. 

 

My work is heavily inspired by several art periods such as the Baroque, Impressionist, Expressionist, Surreal, and Art Nouveau movements.
